About Kamvo

Hi, I’m Venya.

I built Kamvo for the pictures we’ve all missed out on. It started with a simple frustration: why can’t I get someone to take a few photos of me and my family, right here, right now? No pro gear, just good phone shots I can use and share!

Kamvo makes it easy to have that someone there. Open the app, tell us what we’re shooting, and watch a nearby photographer come to you. They take photos on their phone, and your photos arrive right in the app. Think of it as Uber, but for casual photography.

Fifteen years behind the camera.

For fifteen years I photographed weddings, families, seniors and quinceañeras around Southern California. I spent those same years as a personal trainer. Two very different jobs, and in both I thought the same thing: I wish I had some behind-the-scenes photos or video clips of me working, for marketing or personal use.

How I got here

The photos we all want.

The best moments are spontaneous. Hiring a photographer the traditional way takes lots of planning and costs too much, so it's out of the question. That leaves asking a stranger or taking a selfie, and by then the moment is usually gone. That's where Kamvo comes in.

How I got here.

  1. At 13, I moved from the Soviet Union to the U.S. with no English and no friends, just my family. Starting over with nothing showed me how much is really possible.

  2. Serving in the Army and the Marine Corps taught me discipline and gave me the courage to push through the seemingly impossible.

  3. For the last 15 years, I've brought that discipline to photography and personal training, building my own businesses from scratch.

  4. I had the idea for this app in 2018, and at the ripe age of 49, with zero tech background or experience, I used AI to build and launch the app.

Right now I’m signing up our first photographers, one neighborhood at a time. If you’ve got a phone, a good eye and a few photos to show me, come shoot with us.
